Your First Flight into the Silk
Our Foundational Aerial Yoga Teacher Training is the perfect launchpad for your aerial journey. This intensive program is designed for yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and dedicated practitioners who are new to aerial yoga or have some basic experience and wish to teach it safely and effectively. Over 7 to 10 days, you will build a robust foundation in aerial techniques, safety protocols, and teaching methodology, transforming from a curious student into a confident aerial guide.

Certified yoga teachers (any style), fitness instructors, dancers, physiotherapists, and adventurous practitioners with a solid ground yoga practice.
Pre-requisites
A consistent personal yoga practice. Prior teaching experience is beneficial but not mandatory. A reasonable level of fitness and no serious contraindications for inversion (e.g., glaucoma, high blood pressure, recent surgery).
Certification
Upon successful completion, you will receive a 50-Hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Certificate from Shiv Tattva Yoga School, which can contribute towards Yoga Alliance continuing education hours.

Detailed Curriculum Breakdown
Module 1: The Fundamentals of the Aerial Hammock (10 Hours)
Equipment Mastery: Types of hammocks, fabric, carabiners, and rigging. Understanding weight limits and equipment care.
Rigging & Safety: Critical instruction on safe rigging points, height adjustments, and daily safety checks. This is the most important module.
Fundamental Positions: In-depth study of the three basic sits (Basic, Lotus, Straddle), standing positions, and lying positions.
Basic Grounding: Building confidence and body awareness in and around the hammock.
Module 2: Foundational Aerial Asana & Transitions (20 Hours)
Inversions Introduction: Safe and supported inversions (Dolphin, Downward Dog) with a focus on overcoming fear and proper spinal alignment.
Core Series: Poses to build the exceptional core strength required for aerial (Aerial Boat, Knees-to-Chest, Pike).
Backbends & Heart Openers: Supported chest openers (Aerial Fish, Goddess) that safely decompress the spine.
Hip Openers: Using the hammock for deep, passive hip release (Aerial Pigeon, Squat).
Flows & Transitions: Linking 3-5 poses together into a simple, graceful vinyasa flow.
Module 3: Applied Anatomy & Physiology (8 Hours)
The Aerial Body: Focus on shoulder girdle stability, core engagement, and grip strength.
Anatomy of Inversion: Understanding the cardiovascular and lymphatic benefits and contraindications.
Preventing Injury: Common aerial injuries (fabric burns, shoulder strain, grip fatigue) and how to avoid them.
Therapeutic Applications: Using the hammock for spinal decompression and therapeutic traction.
Module 4: Teaching Methodology & Practicum (12 Hours)
Aerial-Specific Cueing: Verbal instructions for orientation, spatial awareness, and safety (“find your knot,” “check your fabric”).
Hands-On Spotting: Safe and effective physical adjustments and assists for students in the air.
Sequencing a Foundational Class: Building a balanced 60-minute aerial class for beginners.
Practice Teaching: Teaching segments of a class to peers and receiving constructive feedback.
